1pm – 2pm: TALK – Paraa in Dhaka
Paraa co-founder Ruhul Abdin explains how his architectural and design agency Paraa is working to improve the lives of Urdu-speaking silk weavers in Mirpur and, with Rukia Begum, outlines the innovative changes being made to Mirpuri Benaroshi silk.

2pm – 4.30pm: TALK: Sustainable fashion and development
Lipi Begum, Senior Lecturer at London College of Fashion, chairs a discussion about how fashion can            contribute to fair and sustainable economic development. Speakers will include Tara Mooney (Senior Lecturer, London College of Fashion) and Sophia Hyder, founder of the fashion brand Evolvemint.

4pm – 6pm IN CONVERSATION: Shahidul Alam & Enamul Hoque
Liza Aziz talks to two internationally-celebrated photographers about their London/Dhaka exhibition (on show throughout Oitij-jo) and about the role and future of photography in Bangladesh and for British Bangladeshis.

4pm – 6pm: SCREENING + TALK:  The Pilgrim With(in) 2012
Visual artist and film-maker Sunara Begum is joined by Ruhul Abdin and Tunde Jegede for a screening of Sunara’s film about Bangladeshi music and musicians and the trio’s experiences of travelling around Bangladesh while making of the film.


SUNDAY

2pm – 4pm: TALK: Muslin in the 21st century
Muhammad Ahmedullah of the Brick Lane Circle hosts a discussion looking at the history of the fabric           muslin and its contemporary relevance, with contributions from Sonia Ashmore (who worked on the      V&A’s recent muslin exhibition) and Rifat Wahhab (The Muslin Trust).

2pm- 3pm: TALK: Women & Creativity:
Host: Ayesha Qureshi – Sanchita Islam, Rezia Wahid and Shapla Salique + more

6pm – 7.30pm: GRAND ADDA: CREATIVITY
with Tahmima Anam, Akram Khan & Kishon Khan  (Lokkhi Terra)

Leesa Gazi, curator of Oitij-jo’s Adda programme, rounds of the series by inviting three shining examples of Bangla-rooted creativity – author Tahmima Anam, dancer Akram Khan MBE and musician Kishon Khan – to share their views on the creative process. TICKETS: £25 (includes day pass giving access to all Bargehouse areas and exhibitions and Lokkhi Terra music performance).
